Strengthening of the management effectiveness of a National system of protected areas project

Dr. Juliane Zeidler in her capacity as the International Consultant for the “Strengthening of the management effectiveness of a National system of protected areas” project in Papua New Guinea had her country mission from the 14 – 25 July 2014. The main objective of this project is to strengthen national and local capacities to effectively manage the national system of protected areas, and address threats to biodiversity and ecosystem functions in these areas.

During the mission, Dr. Zeidler had the opportunity to conduct field visits and be part of the stakeholder workshop to solicit inputs into the project design.

The project is being hosted by the Government of Papua New Guinea (GoPNG) through the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) with the technical assistance from UNDP.
