High Level Climate Finance Awareness Raising Event, Windhoek, Namibia
Preparation for the inevitable impact of climate change is essential to avoid disastrous effects. Namibia is dependent on their rich diversity of natural resources, which is used in all industries from agriculture, and fisheries to tourism and mining, therefore making the need for adaptation even more imperative. Namibia has already set up a National Climate Change Policy in 2011, as well as a National Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan (NCCSAP) in 2013, which includes Climate Finance considerations, which are currently in the final stages of being set up.
IECN was commissioned to organise and excute the event including moderation and writing the event summary. This event is part of the GIZ CF Ready activities, which is designed to inform and gather support for climate finance relevant activities by the Republic of Namibia, including CF Ready supported measures, among senior level representatives and decision makers of different Ministries and public institutions. The CF Ready activity is also designed to foster interaction between event participants to improve coordination among climate finance- relevant actors.
This event will be held over a brief evening-dinner, of approximately 2 hours, including three speeches from an MET representative, Climate Change expert and Climate Finance expert, followed by panel discussions and then networking while dinner is served in the form of canapés.
The event is being hosted by the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
